Aarrgghh!!! - What's a foder?

Giugno 2015
Come si dice fodera in inglese? È semplice: se in spagnolo basta aggiungere una “s” in inglese basta togliere una vocale! Ovviamente scherziamo… ma il proprietario di questo negozio di Torino, sembra pensarla proprio così! Se vedete bizzarrie linguistiche: fotografatele e mandatecele!

The owners of this shop in Turin, which sells lining (“fodere” in Italian) for jackets and coats, didn’t waste time using a dictionary or the internet (click here to enlarge the image). They thought that, in order to find the perfect translation, you simply drop a vowel from the Italian word.
If the owners want a new name, then we recommend “Silver Lining” (as in “Every cloud has a silver lining,“ the equivalent of “Non tutti i mali vengono per nuocere”), although they would need to paint the sign silver.
Our thanks to Consolata Bracco for spotting this one.

If you see English mistakes (in Italy, the UK, anywhere!) that make you scream “Aarrgghh!!!” take a photo (please make sure it’s in focus!) and send it to redazione@speakupmagazine.it
We will publish the best (that is, the worst) both here and on our Facebook page.
