Aarrgghh!!! Bimbos for sale?

Novembre 2014
Bimbo Store è un negozio italiano, per fortuna! Bimbo in inglese è un termine slang spregiativo che indica una donna stupida... qui vendono semplicemente vestiti e prodotti per bambini, ve lo assicuriamo!

Bimbo Store
Bimbo Store

An American (or even British, Australian etc.) visitor to Italy would find it hard to understand that this store sells clothes and other items for children (Click here to enlarge the image). This is because, as Wikipedia tells us, “Bimbo is a derogatory slang term for an attractive but unintelligent female.” The word bimbo is, of course, Italian and refers to a male child. It was introduced to the United States by Italian immigrants at the start of the 20th century and was first used as a term for a not very intelligent (or infantile) male. It later became an insult for a similar type of female. Our thanks to Bruno Biondani for having spotted this “store for attractive but unintelligent females!”

If you see English mistakes (in Italy, the UK, anywhere!) that make you scream “Aarrgghh!!!” take a photo (please make sure
it’s in focus!) and send it to redazione@speakupmagazine.it
We will publish the best (that is, the worst) both here and on our Facebook page.
