A Gap Year? In England!

di ELCS - The English Language Consultancy Service

Taking a gap year is a common practice in the UK. It means that you take time out from your studies (not necessarily a full 12 months) and do something different. Most people take a gap year between school and university.
Any Italians who’ve just finished school and who haven’t decided what they want to study at university or what they want do with their lives may be interested in following one of the Study Year courses offered by Chichester College. These are much more than just language courses. Students who choose the Academic Study Year programme will have 12 hours of English classes per week, with a further 2.5 hours dedicated to other subjects, such as Maths, Science, Business Studies etc.
The course is open to students with at least a B1/IELTS 4.5 level of English, who may study for one, two or three terms beginning in September, January or April.
Those who choose the Vocational Study Year must start in September, although they may still study for one, two or three terms. They take an average of 22 hours per week of classes, combining English with one of a wide range of vocational subjects such as health and social care, computing, engineering, music. The vocational classes are taken alongside UK students. Again the minimum level required is B1/IELTS 4.5.
There is a lively social life and the College also organises a full programme of activities with optional Saturday excursions. There is a choice of accommodation on and off campus, with families and in student residences. Chichester is a historic town in West Sussex, near the south coast, about 1h 45m by train from London.
